Ringo Starr is born on 7 July 1940 at 9 Madryn Street in Dingle. His father’s name is Richard Starkey and his mother’s name is Elsie Gleave. He was the only child of his parents. His father died in 1981 and his mother died in 1987.

His parents nicknamed him “Ritchie”. His mother is overprotected about her son and all his attention was only towards her son. The result of this was that Starkey’s father lost interest in his family.

He started spending his time drinking and dancing in pubs. In 1944 the family moved to Admiral Grove, near Dingle. In the same year, his parents get separated and divorced. Starkey started living with his mother.

His father merely comes to visit him. It was difficult for his mother to bear all the expenses of the house. So she started doing a job. Then she was hired as a barmaid where she worked for twelve years.

When he was six years old he suffered from appendicitis. Then during his treatment, he was infected from peritonitis. Due to this, he was in a coma for many days. He admitted one year into the Liverpool’s Street children’s hospital.

He was stayed at home and missed his school until he was eight years. One of his neighbors started teaching him. In 1953 he again get infected from tuberculosis and spent his two years in the hospital.

Then his interest in drumming was started developing. In 1955 he returned to his home. He does a job at the railway with British Rail. After this, he worked as a waiter in a boat. He does other jobs before starting his carer in music.

His professional music career was started as a drummer. He with some other artists formed a band named Hurricanes. In 1960 this band becomes one of the leading bands of Liverpool. Soon he received an offer from another band and to leave the Hurricanes.

In 1962 he left the band and accepted the offer from The Beatles. Then the manager of The Beatles fired their present drummer Pete Best. In August 1962 he was performed for the first time in the band.

1998 he released the album, Mercury. But the album was a commercial failure. In 200 he joined a group of drummers with Buddy Rich, William F, and Ludwig Sr.

In 2005 he release Choose Love but it was failed in the US chart. In 2010 he self-produced and released his studio album “Y Not”. In January 2014 he performed at 56th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
